Industrial yet welcoming for Japan Home Brand with MEGAMAN® LED Lighting

The recently opened Japan Home outlet in Sengkang, Singapore wanted to create a ‘modern industrial’ look and feel to the space, yet also bring a sense of warmth to the traditionally stark feel of a retail store.  With this in mind the exposed track lighting, recessed downlighters and pendants all contain MEGAMAN® 2,800K colour temperature lamps, bringing a warm welcome to the store’s customers.  The end result is a scheme that is not only welcoming, but delivers savings of over €9,045 in electricity costs over the lamps’ lifetime* compared to traditional equivalents.

Located in the recently renovated and reopened Compass One Mall (formerly known as Compass Point) the new look mall has focused on integrating significant environmental improvements into the renovation.  Embracing this focus, Japan Home asked for the original lighting specification to be re-assessed and MEGAMAN®, working alongside the interior designers, Evince Design & Consultants, suggested LED equivalents that would not only save money and energy, but would give the retail space the same warm, welcoming mood as the originally specified 50W halogens.

Japan Home wanted a combination of both a modern and industrial look and Evince Design’s brief was to ‘create multiple perspectives for each product, whilst demonstrating a range of decors and creating a cosy mood with a warmer lighting tones’.  With this in mind MEGAMAN® MOSAIC track lighting was run along the exposed air conditioning pipework throughout the entire store and 330 MEGAMAN® PAR16 7W GU10 Dimmable LEDs were chosen in a warm colour temperature (2,800K) and wide beam angle (35°) to ensure the industrial shelving was bathed in warm light.

To create a focal point over the tills, MEGAMAN®’s MAX recessed downlighters were fitted with 38 MEGAMAN® PAR16 7W Dimmable LEDs and over the moveable retail display areas, 39 MEGAMAN® Classic dimmable 13W E27 LEDs were used to create focal points of light in a range of stunning pendants.

As well as advising the Japan Home team on the best LEDs to use on the scheme, MEGAMAN® also worked with the project team, providing technical support to ensure that the final outcome was exactly what the client ordered.  Japan Home was pleased with the end result and the support they received from the MEGAMAN® team. Their hope of providing a warmer shopping experience for their customers at Compass One was realised from day one of the store opening.

* The savings calculations are based on usage of 12 hours per day 7 days per week and the CO2 savings have been calculated on the basis of 368 MEGAMAN 7W LEDs and 39 MEGAMAN 13W LEDs instead of 50w halogens.
